Working Issue: Volume 1 Number 3 Autumn 2022

ghost

i can’t help but be sad for her, y’know?
i cannot help but grieve
and i see her out there
in a sea of stranger’s faces
and i think the ghost of her is me

MAKENZIE MACROL
is in college, but she lives each day not only as a student of her institution, but as a student of the world. She is, most recently, the author of the poem “red,” which was published in Solstice Literary Magazine’s debut issue and achieved first place in the magazine’s spring poetry contest of 2022. Macrol is no stranger to difficult subjects; by exploring love, life, and cultural issues, her goal is to spark new and necessary conversation around what makes people struggle—what makes people human.
