Hindsight is 20/20
(A Letter to my 20 year old self, 20 years later)

I wish you would have known
what the future holds
before it happened
to put your mind at ease
and relieve the stress
of your responsibilities.

I wish you would have seen
with your eyes directly
your beauty, intelligence, worth
understanding your purpose
instead of focusing only on
what could have been.

I wish you would have listened
to the positive vibes
of those who believed in you
and ignored the ones
who used their words as weapons
to bring you down.

I wish you would have trusted
that the universe
would hold you tight
protect you, heal you, love you
lead you in the right direction
and save you from your plight.

I wish you would have believed
in your potential
that you would not only survive
but absolutely thrive
creating with your hands, words and mind
your best possible life.

Years later on this journey
soul empowered, authentic and free
I pause and offer her
a sincere apology
for hindsight is truly 20/20.
